A Day in the Past

Privacy

Short version: no accounts, no adverts, no tracking cookies and no analytics. You can use every page without giving us any personal information.

Cookies

Visitors don’t get any cookies from us. The only cookie we use is a sign-in cookie for the site owner’s admin area, which is needed for that area to work and is only set when someone signs in there.

Things we don’t do

Videos

Some stories include a video from YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press the play button. When you do, the video is played from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced service (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube’s own terms and Google’s privacy policy apply to that video.

Links to other websites

Links to other websites go through a short /go/ address on our site. When you use one, we record which link was used, the date and time, and which of our pages it was on, so we can see which links are useful. We don’t record who you are or your IP address in these counts.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our web server keeps technical logs (such as the IP address, the page requested and the type of browser) to keep the site secure and fix problems. We don’t use them to build profiles of visitors.

Emails

If you email us at hello@adayinthepast.co.uk, we use your email address and message only to reply and to fix whatever you told us about. We don’t add you to any mailing list.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing us. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
